Rev. Phyllis Coachman – Executive Minister

Rev. Dr. Phyllis Coachman has been called to be the Executive Minister of Safe Haven UCC. In this role, Dr. Coachman leads the strategic planning, human resources, finance, recruitment, and all functional activities to ensure alignment with and accomplishment of the church’s mission and vision.

In the Executive Minister role, Rev. Dr. Coachman oversees the day-to-day operations of the church and joins in making decisions about the overall church direction. She is also called to teach and preach and engage in pastoral care for our congregants. 

Reverend Phyllis Coachman joined Safe Haven after diligently searching for a new church home for several years. She knew that Safe Haven was the church that she longed for and literally dreamed about after her first visit. She was warmly greeted by The Pastor, Rev. Dr. Ruby Wilson and the congregation during the service.

Phyllis, a native of Brooklyn New York was raised in a loving Christian home with parents and siblings who were Pentecostal and actively involved in the church.

She holds a BA in York College, a Masters Degree in Social Work, from the State University of Stony Brook, and is a graduate of New York Theological Seminary. She also received her Doctor of Theology Degree with a minor in Christian Psychology from the International Theological Seminary

A lyricist and music producer, Phyllis is the co-owner of Ida Dee Vine
Entertainment LLC, and the owner of No Shame Counseling Services LLC. She is a licensed Clinical Social Worker, and has been practicing part time as a psychotherapist, for more than 15 years.

She currently serves on Safe Haven’s Executive Council and heads the Mission’s Ministry.
